Full Hunter's

It's Full Hunter's Moon, though here in Ohio we have rain and mist. Perfect werewolf weather. The cycle begins. I've been working steady at the day job and getting no writing done. But after the season I plan on completing a werewolf novella, and kickstarting two novels that have stalled.

Hallow's Eve is coming; be good, beware.

Autumn and Harvest Days

It between moons and summer has faded to just a shadow. It was a glorious one though, sunny almost every day, and hot. Now the storms are coming. Mostly ours but a few leftovers from the hurricanes. We lost power for a week from Ike. Can't image what you folks in Texas are going through.

While I didn't make any progress in writing this summer, I did work out the details on my short story collection and I am happy to say it is now available in paperback- on Amazon and www.etreasurespublishing.com.

It's all horror so the timing is perfect. Hallow's Eve is just around the corner!

Don't forget Full Hunter's Moon on the 14th

September

We passed through the Full Sturgeon Moon, now waning as September approaches. Kids are back to school and, the weather is giving us the first hint of Autumn. I even had to clean maple leaves from the deck, an early signal of Fall's coming. The air is clearer in the morning and often crisp and cold. Football weather

The Eve of Full Buck Moon

It's hotter than Hades in NE Ohio on the eve of the Full Buck Moon. Days are still long, sunrise dreadfully early, but we love the summer months. All too soon my thoughts and labors will be turning toward things like splitting wood for the dark cold months that come too fast and last too long.

High days of summer

Just past Summer Solstice and Full Strawberry Moon, the best part of the year. Writing is going slow, too many distractions. Will have my anthology in print soon and hope same for Beckoned.

Best to all

Full Flower Moon

Full Flower Moon (last night and now)

Surely summer is near but here in NE Ohio the temps are more like March- High in the 50's.

Back in the Saddle

Wow,

I haven't posted for almost two months, sorry. We are closing in on the Full Flower Moon, usually the gateway to summer. Here in NE Ohio, cold weather just won't give up the ghost and we have the fires on again with temps going down to 35 tonight. It'll come though. I did a guest blog on Murder-by-4

www.murderby4.blogspot.com -please check it out (April 28 dateline)
and I am gearing up to finish a werewolf novella.

Nigh Spring and Full Worm waxing

Two days until the Vernal Equinox (Mun Geri) and also the Full Worm Moon. The fogs are heavy and deep. 'Tis Werewolf Weather!

Mother Nature

Well, we just dug out from 23 inches of snow that dropped over the weekend. It was actually amazing sitting through a March blizzard. Now I really think Mother Nature is out of steam, at least wrt snow, can feel the change. We're waxing toward Full Worm Moon and that means the rains. It also means the maples will flow. Syrup making time.

CONTEST WINNER- BRANDY

Brandy (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=9120981) has solved the contest question for a free download of "Beckoned". Congrats, Brandy- well done.

The answer is: The symbol appears on the cover of Santana Abraxas on the left hand of the Red Demon.

I'm hoping Brandy will enjoy the novel and maybe write a review.

Stay well, all

Full Snow with extras

Hi,

February 20: Tonight is Full Snow Moon AND a lunar eclipse. Don’t miss it. Be careful of the werewolves though. I’m OK. Yukon is half wolf so they leave me alone.

New theme for MySpace tunes

Hi,

I’ve changed my tune on MySpace. As before I’m staying with artists that have “crossed over”. I consider it a way to communicate with the other side. http://www.myspace.com/ronaldscala Comments welcome.

Feature Article

I was pleasantly surprised to see an article about Beckoned in our local paper, The Weekly Villager. I was waiting on a take-out pizza and picked up the Villager while it cooked. On the Features Page were three pieces about local authors. Beckoned was one. It included a full color photo of the book cover and a very good article. Its also on-line at http://www.weeklyvillager.com/archive_pdf/020808.pdf (pg 19).

There's good news and bad news.

Good first. I did my first interview with a local paper about Beckoned. It's a small weekly but it was cool talking with a professional writer about being a writer. Hopefully she'll decide to put a piece in the paper about the book. And, I finally got classified as a"published author" by Pennwriters so I can now do what (?)

The bad, well not too bad. The weather is a little intense here in NE Ohio. Snow then an ice storm. Went to pick up my son at the movies and passed a flipped over pick-up and locked the brakes for a cool 80-foot skid.

Waiting for the Ground Hog and praying for clouds

Full Moon at Midnight

Amazing night. I went outside around midnight. Waxing toward Full Wolf, the moon illuminated the backyard, the trails and the woods and cast deep shaddows. Already below 10 degrees, I wanted to check on my dogs, Yukon, who is half wolf, and Kato, my Husky. Though the near-full moon was bright, I could see brilliant stars, even next to it. The air was crisp and fiercely cold and the ground rock solid. The crust of snow crunched beneath my boots and I imagined this might be what it would be like on one of the moons of Jupiter; cold, sterile, brutally beautiful. Everything was so still, like the cold had frozen even time. Amazing.

The cryptic symbol on the cover of "Beckoned"

Hi, just wanted to put up the original symbol that the cover used. Check back for the significance of this later.

Beckoned cover art

I wanted everyone to see the cover art for Beckoned. It was graciously adapted (from a photo my daughter took at Full Wolf Moon last year) by M. E. Ellis and hubby. The resultant image is another story but that's for a later date.

Update and Thoughts from Home

The weather has done a 180. Partly sunny and in the 50s. Wow! Rode my bike yesterday and today and its the first week in January! Saturday I was on cross country skis with Sky, Sunday riding the Trek up the road.

Getting positive feedback about "Beckoned". At least several buyers have commented that it "looks interesting". Trying to get another professional Review too.

A New Year reflection

Shoveling out of 14 inches of Northeast Ohio lake-effect snow, it didn't dawn on me right away how fortunate I really am at the dawn of this new year. To begin with, and most importantly, my family and I are healthy. My daughter Taryn has recently gotten engaged and she and her fiance visited for the Holidays from Florida (they hoped to see snow but missed it by a week). And today my new book "Beckoned" was released.

All in all a fabulous start to 2008!
